Laura has been part of Portobello Books since it was established in 2005.  Her publishing career began with summer internships and editing her college newspaper, before landing her first proper job at Penguin, where she eventually ended up running the Penguin Classics list.  In 2011 she started working with Portobello’s sister imprint, Granta, too and now acquires books for both lists. At Portobello, she publishes international literary fiction and non-fiction that ranges from memoir and travel writing to reportage, politics, and narrative history, and her authors include David Bainbridge, Ian Cobain, Caroline Criado-Perez, Jenny Erpenbeck, Matthew Green, Kapka Kassabova, Hiromi Kawakami, Hubert Mingarelli, Ben Rawlence, Andrea Stuart, and Christine Toomey.
